Life’s Diversity

When your life beings
You’re handed a blank canvas
That’s all your own
To draw whatever you wish
The possibilities are endless
The paint brush is in your hand
You put the tip of it on the page
And wait, not knowing what to paint

You see that blank space looming over your life
And you can’t seem to get that picture out of your mind
The next thing you know
There are 10 more canvases waiting for you to help their owners paint them
And the knowledge that you could let all those people down
Crashes over you until it’s too much
And the tears spill over

But then you have an idea
And just let yourself go
And let your soul take over
So that the brush seems to move on its own accord

You step back and look upon your creation
And see what the paint has made
Something so different than anything that has been made before
Something that is only yours
And the only name that comes to you is this
“Life’s Diversity” by you

Your painting is unique from everyone else’s around you
Theirs has reds and blues and yellows
While yours has greens and purples and blacks and whites and every color of the rainbow
So when you think that yours is not good enough
Just think of that rainbow on your canvas
Unlike any other
That’s who you are
And that’s who you should be
